Week 62 - First Tri

That was fun. This first sprint triathlon was primarily an information gathering exercise to see how the whole thing works. Of course I also wanted to do well, but just getting through was the main goal. I had a loose goal in mind - I wrote this before the race: I was a bit overly optimistic… and also bad at maths apparently (that should be 1:27). Week 60 - Slow Down and Speed Up

I was listening to a new podcast this week, and one of the episodes struck a chord with me. The podcast’s title is Triathlon Swim Training for Beginners To Intermediate Triathletes (that’s a mouth full), the episode was #108, and if you’re curious you can listen here: Is high level triathlon training healthy? – TSC Podcast #108. Week 59 - First Swim Race

I participated in my first swimming race last weekend. It was fun. The main goal was to see what it was like thrashing in the water with a bunch of other people around. While it was a bit of a dry run before my first triathlon race, I was still nervous about the race. 1km is still a long swimming distance for me at this point, and I am a rudimentary swimmer at best.…

Week 56 - Of Sharks and Tickets

It’s all happening. I was finally able to buy my entry ticket for the Ironman 70.3. Wonder Woman and I still have some travel arrangements to sort out, but the sweaty bills have been laid out. If I fail now, there will be monetary repercussions - enforced by Wonder Woman. My training has been going quite well. I am feeling pretty strong, and (touch wood) I haven’t had any nagging pains.…

Week 55 - Build the Shed

I’ve been working on building up the base for the Half Ironman at the end of the year. The first stop is a sprint Triathlon in March, and I’ve just been following my base plan. It seems to be working so far: As I mentioned it’s basically just starting with 2 runs, 2 bikes, and 2 swims per week. At the start of the year I was just following the plan, but I’ve been augmenting the plan lately.…
